Inaugural ICIE Research camp

ICIE held its first ‘research camp’ on 12 March 2018, which prompted research conversations between ICIE members and two distinguished scholars, during formal sessions and a networking lunch and dinner.

There were two inspiring talks by Sjoerd Beugelsdijk, Professor in International Business at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and Konstantinos Katsikeas, Professor of Marketing and International Management at Leeds University Business School (LUBS).

Sjoerd Beugelsdijk presented work that aims to synthesize Hofstede’s dimensional conception of culture with Inglehart’s dynamic conception, while Konstantinos Katsikeas considered the unique challenges of doing and publishing research in international business and management.

It was also an opportunity for ICIE members to present their work. Grant Douglas gave a presentation on the cultural diversity passport program at IÉSEG, which forms part of a study on the development of intercultural competence, while Katharina Zeugner-Roth presented a scale development project she is currently conducting on global authenticity seeking. Several ideas for future events in different arenas (teaching and learning, research) were discussed during the event as well as the networking lunch and dinner.
